I used to think the universe ran on a law of exchange: work hard, earn the reward; lose something, gain the lesson—the cosmic version of a balanced checkbook.
But the longer I’ve watched life move through me, the less it feels like accounting and the more it feels like circulation. Nothing is truly lost or gained—it’s all being rearranged by love in motion.
Love, it turns out, is the operating system.
When love is the current, giving and receiving are the same act. Effort and grace collapse into one movement. The price disappears because there’s no buyer or seller, only the flow.
Maybe that’s what awakening really is—realizing that you don’t earn your way to peace. You relax into it. You stop bargaining with the universe and start participating in it.
The exchange rate of love never fluctuates. It just asks that you stay open.
This reflection was inspired by my exploration of the Heart Chakra — the center of unconditional love, balance, and connection. Writing about the heart taught me that love isn’t something we earn or barter; it’s the current that sustains all life.
You can read more about the Heart Chakra in my forthcoming book, The Seven Gates of Inner Light.
