Listen to Women for a Change: Every Woman’s Handbook is a small purple book with a mighty purpose—a collection of poems and quotations to help women reclaim their voice, their power, and their right to self-determination. Born from the quiet courage of women in crisis, it remains a timeless companion for all who are ready to listen within.
Words that whisper courage, reminding every woman she already knows the way.

In the mid-1980s, while working at a women’s resource center in Northern California, Yvonne Kranz and I began writing words of encouragement on sticky notes—simple reminders of strength and worth for women who walked through our doors in crisis. Those notes grew into Listen to Women for a Change: Every Woman’s Handbook, first published in 1995 under Uppity Women Publishing.
This small yet spirited collection of poems and quotations offers gentle wisdom and inspiration for women learning to trust themselves again. Used for decades as a fundraiser for women’s centers across the United States, the book continues to speak in a clear, loving voice: You are strong. You are worthy. You can begin again.
Every Woman’s Handbook isn’t available on Amazon or in bookstores, but Yvonne still has copies in storage at her home in California. To order:
Cost: $9 plus shipping

If you—or someone you know—works at a domestic-violence center or other women’s organization, let Yvonne know. She’ll do what she can to make copies available.
Thank you for supporting this small, spirited project that continues to whisper, listen to women for a change.
